Though this resembles a standard 6.5 Carcano round, this cartridge is designed specifically for the Vetterli. This mild load is fun to shoot, mild on your shoulder and accurate.
Though the Head Stamp is marked “NTW”, this is PPU Brass.
The Italian Vetterli rifle, designed by Friedrich Vetterli, was adopted by the Italian Army in the 1870s. It initially used a 10.35mm cartridge, later transitioning to the 6.5 smokeless centerfire cartridge. Despite eventual obsolescence due to advancements with the Carcano rifle, it played a significant role in conflicts like the First Italo-Ethiopian War and World War I, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and military history. The Vetterli Model 1870/87/15, a modification of the original Italian Vetterli, was an integral part of Italy’s military arsenal during World War I.
Today, it serves as a cherished relic, offering insight into Italy’s military heritage and the evolution of small arms technology, once again brought to life to be enjoyed again.
Traveling at a slower speed compared to it’s full powered counterpart, the standard 6.5 Carcano load, this gentle load will let you fire your Vetterli safely and accurately. In our testing, we were able to hit a torso-sized steel target at 200 yards.
We used a Vetterli Model 1870/87/15 from Royal Tiger Imports to conduct our testing.
